Carsick Cars is an experimental indie rock band in China. In 2005, Li Weisi, Li Qing and Zhang Shouwang made this trio. However, because Li Weisi and Li Qing left the group for their personal projects on music, newmembers, Ben Ben and He Fan replaced their spaces. Shouwang plays the lead guitar as well as he sings as the main vocal. Ben Ben plays the bass guitar and He Fan plays drum.
When the original members left, fans of Carsick Cars were worried that they will lose their original style or their fame. However, Carsick Cars is still a great influence on the underground music scene of China and even that of the whole world. They perform not only in China, but also in the United States, UK, and Europe. Lots of their fans around the world are hoping Carsick Cars to come to their countries for some performances.
Among the three of them, Zhang Shouwang is the most popular member. He composes most of the music and manages the whole band. When he went to a trip to New York in 2006, he listened to lots of rock music. He says that he was attracted to Steve Reich's music and that experience influenced his music style nowadays.
